The term metalbaby is actually a bit of a misnomer. While the bulk of the metalbaby’s core is tungsten, its outer, fleshy, surface was sculpted out of an unknown combination of gallium, bromine, rubidium, and glass. As a result, it does not conduct electricity well and lacks other important metallic qualities. It is also not alive in the biological sense due to its inability to grow on its own. It is significant to note that while the metalbaby can develop emotionally, it lacks the resources to grow itself physically.

Origins
It was sculpted on a turntable at 120 beats per minutes by DJ Jonathon Greenway. Greenway hoped to make the metalbaby into a break-dancing biker who would generate him an income traveling the country challenging other nomadic creatures to dance competitions. However, the metalbaby’s growing love of the blues and wrong notes compelled it to take up time-consuming musical endeavors. Greenway readily embraced the change of plan but is known for musing in interviews what life would be like if the metalbaby put its dancing talents to work.

Sightings
In 2005 the metalbaby surfaced from its home beneath the earth to share with the world its quasi-improvised breed of drum and bass music. As the year progressed, the metalbaby started to overheat and ultimately caught fire in December. In 2006 the metalbaby retired to its underground base for repairs until 2010 when it started sending dispatches describing its new discoveries in electro-pop. This development has continued to progress through 2011, 2012, and 2013.
